College and Career Readiness Blog

Bladen Community College held its 2025 graduation on May 10. The College and Career Readiness Department had many graduates and a special guest speaker; Mr Bobby Bailey. Mr Bailey was enrolled in the GED program housed at Bladen County Detention Center in Elizabethtown, NC. Mr Bailey was a model student who was passionate about his studies, despite his circumstances. Class met on Mondays, and each Monday Mr Bailey was eager to participate and learn. Passing his first test only enhanced his determination. Waiting on the results for his last test (Math) seemed like forever. Once he received his final passing score, Mr Bailey was anxious to share the news with his wife and children. Mr Bailey was released one week prior to Bladen Community College’s graduation ceremony. He was asked to be the guest speaker and he agreed with no hesitation. May 10, 2025, Mr Bailey gave a positive, heartwarming, and humorous speech. He encouraged all to strive to complete their dreams and goals regardless of their situations; as new beginnings await.
