Gaston College partners with Gaston Correctional Center to provide HRD, High School Equivalency, and forklift training courses for incarcerated students.
One student nearing release participated in the forklift operator certification class while also completing the final HiSET exams needed to earn his High School Equivalency.
On the day of his release, the final test results arrived confirming that he had successfully earned his credential.
Just three weeks later, he reported that he had secured employment as a forklift operator for a small business. He credits the certification and education he received through Gaston College for helping him gain employment so quickly.
