Martha’s educational journey is a powerful example of resilience and determination.
As a child, she survived a traumatic brain injury that required her to relearn many basic skills. Although she worked hard throughout school, she was unable to earn a high school diploma at that time.
Years later, after becoming a mother, she promised herself she would return to finish her education.
Martha first enrolled at Mitchell Community College in 1991. Despite balancing work and family responsibilities, she never abandoned her goal.
In December 2025, at age 61, she passed her final HiSET exam and officially earned her high school equivalency credential. She now plans to enroll in the MOAST program and continue her education.
